The Results are in for the 2026 Growing Competition

Date: 14/05/2026 | Posted by John Garton

The final weigh in of this year’s Genuine Jersey, Jersey Royal potato growing competition, sponsored by Homefields, was held in St Ouen’s Parish Hall after last year Connétable Honeycomb won the Constables growing competition, a title he’s held onto this year again too with a landslide win with a yield of more than 1kg of Jersey Royals .

This was the 20th edition of the competition which, starting in early February, sees primary school children, the local media and Parish Connetables nurture their seed potatoes over 12 weeks, in a bid for potato growing glory. This year their buckets were also filled with soil from Infrastructure, Housing and Environment’s green waste facility and delivered by sponsors Homefields.

In the school’s competition, which involved all of the island’s primary schools, the Rainbow Room at Rouge Bouillon School won the greatest weight with 844g and our second winners were Year 3 at St Clements Primary School who grew a bumper crop of 50 Jersey Royals in their bucket, an incredible achievement.

Once again this year’s media competition yielded very mixed results with previous winners Gallery producing just one tuber! Channel 103FM were crowned the winners of the heaviest crop at 298.5 grams and Alison Moss of BBC Radio Jersey scored top marks for her greatest yield of 19 tubers.

With support from our sponsor Homefields the Genuine Jersey Products Association is already looking forward to next year.
