Dandy

Dandy opened their doors in 2014. What started life as the small and very cool coffee shop on Conway Street where islanders were treated to their first taste of how coffee would be served in a mecca like Australia is now three shops in St Helier. They have an ever changing menu bursting with delicious treats and a bakery supplying sourdough loaves to restaurants and retailers throughout the island.

Bread can be very simple and most of what you find on the supermarket shelf is full of additives to make it very simple on a large scale. Our recipe is very simple (flour, salt & water) but to achieve the end result is a science that sees each loaf take 18 hours from being 3 raw ingredients to a final baked loaf. It's a labour of love and takes a huge amount of discipline and skill to master. There are numerous variables that have an impact on the end product, something we are very proud to have mastered.

If you’ve ever wondered where the Dandy name came from it was none other than The Jersey Herd Book, which was created in 1866, it’s the foundation on which the Jersey Breed is based both in Jersey and worldwide; every single Jersey in the world can trace their origins back to this directory. The first written record in the Jersey Herd book was a bull named Dandy. Dandy was the start of a new standard, one that set the bar high. Which is why it was the natural choice for them when choosing their name back in 2014.
