Genuine Jersey marks 25 years by inviting Islanders to celebrate local at anniversary market
Sunday 12 Jul 2026
This year marks 25 years since Genuine Jersey was established to champion the Island’s producers, makers and growers. A quarter of a century later, the organisation is stronger than ever, with more than 200 members – the highest membership in its history.
Established in 2001 to support those who make, grow, catch or rear products in Jersey, Genuine Jersey has spent the past 25 years helping local businesses thrive while giving Islanders confidence that they are buying authentic local produce and products.
To celebrate the milestone, Genuine Jersey Members will come together for a special 25th Anniversary Artisans’ Market the Seaside Cafe at Greve de Lecq on Sunday 12 July, inviting Islanders and visitors alike to discover the extraordinary range of local food, drink, art, crafts and experiences the Island has to offer.
Today, Genuine Jersey’s membership spans farmers, fishermen, food and drink producers, artists, craftspeople, retailers and businesses, all united by a shared commitment to quality, provenance and supporting Jersey’s local economy. The organisation has become a trusted mark of authenticity, helping consumers identify genuine local products while providing a supportive network for businesses.
John Garton, Chief Executive of Genuine Jersey, said:
“Reaching more than 200 members is a wonderful way to celebrate our 25th anniversary and demonstrates just how vibrant Jersey’s local producers' community has become. Every one of our members shares a passion for producing something truly local, whether they make, grow, catch or rear it here in Jersey.
“This anniversary is about celebrating the people behind those businesses. Their creativity, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit have helped Genuine Jersey become a trusted mark that Islanders and visitors alike, recognise and value. We hope people will join us at Greve de Lecq to celebrate everything our Members have achieved over the past 25 years and continue supporting local for the next 25 and beyond.”
This anniversary market recognises the contribution Genuine Jersey members have made to the Island over the past quarter of a century while looking ahead to the future.
Visitors to the market will be able to meet local producers and makers, shop from an exceptional range of Genuine Jersey members, grab themselves a bite to eat from the Ugly Oyster, and celebrate one of the Island’s most successful business communities.
As Genuine Jersey celebrates its first 25 years, the organisation remains committed to supporting the people who make, grow, catch and rear Jersey’s finest products, helping local businesses flourish and ensuring Jersey’s unique skills, creativity and produce continue to be celebrated for generations to come.
The Genuine Jersey 25th Anniversary Artisans’ Market takes place at the Seaside Cafe, Greve de Lecq on Sunday 12 July, from 10am to 4pm, and everyone is welcome.
