Foodies Feast a Huge Success

Date: 23/05/2011 | Posted by John Garton
May certainly lived up its reputation as the merry month as the first Jersey Food Festival focused on the cornucopia of fresh Island produce that abounds in the spring.

Thanks to the enthusiastic Genuine Jersey members, foodies and local chefs who devoted so much time and effort to a variety of events over eight days, Jersey has established its presence on the food map of the British Isles.

Organised with Jersey Tourism’s usual verve and panache, the festival was a celebration of the Island’s three essential produce – the Jersey Royal new potato, seafood and dairy. However, a smorgasbord of other local produce - from cask ales to chocolate and asparagus to pasta – delighted the thousands of Islanders and visitors who joined guided walks, took part in producer tours or attended the festival’s climax; a two-day fair held in glorious sunshine.

Ludlow and Abergavenny look out – the Jersey Food Festival will be back next year!
