Goods made by members of the Genuine Jersey Products Association (GJPA) have gone on display in the window of a new King Street shop which opened today (Wednesday July 21st). Maison La Mare is a new venture for Tim Crowley of La Mare Vineyards, who is a founder member of the Association. The shop stocks a variety of products made by GJPA members and will be key in raising the profile of the Association amongst locals and visitors alike.
Managing director of La Mare Vineyards Tim Crowley says: “A presence on the high street these days cannot be underestimated. Maison La Mare is a new in-store concept for Genuine Jersey and will not only encourage more people to buy locally-made goods but hopefully visit Island attractions like Jersey Lavender, La Mare Vineyards and Jersey Pottery which have strong links to the Association”.
As well as stocking the extensive range of La Mare produce and alcoholic drinks the shop sells items produced by other GJPA members. These include freshly cut flowers from Woodside Farm, handmade soaps made by Samares Manor Soap Shop, pottery from The Pottery at Belverdere Terrace and Jersey Pottery and a wide variety of gift products from Jersey Lavender
The shop, which is opposite Voisins, also sells prints by local artist Rosemary Blackmore, who is famous for her designs of Jersey cows, and mugs with designs painted by local artist Ian Rolls. Tim hopes having a high street window to display goods will encourage more people to join the growing ranks of the Association.
