Genuine Jersey expands membership in time for Christmas

Date: 24/11/2017 | Posted by John Garton

Genuine Jersey is proud is announce the addition of two new members to its organisation in the run up to Christmas. Gemma Eve’s textile art and illustrations will now bear the Genuine Jersey hallmark of quality as well as Wild Health’s fresh seasoned and air-dried Jersey Kale, prepared by owner Gemma Bartlett.

With a degree in Illustration at Kingston University, Gemma Eve returned to her love of design after welcoming her son into the world. She now combines her passion for illustration with designing unique appliqué and free hand machine embroidery portraits.

Gemma creates personalised and commissioned artworks of family, couples and home portraits as well as a range of wedding and Christmas gifts. Her designs can be purchased through her website or online craft store Etsy.

Gemma Eve said: “I really enjoy making keepsakes that I know will be treasured by families for years to come. Working with customers to create something truly unique and bespoke to their ideas is such a reward for me.”

Representing a wide range of local talent, Genuine Jersey also welcomes Wild Health as a member through their newly launched Jersey kale chips. The health food and lifestyle company will be selling their bags of dried kale in outlets around Jersey, including Holme Grown. You can also pick these up from their street food trailer, which will be in attendance at the Genuine Jersey Spirit of Christmas Markets and around St Helier town centre on Street Food Thursdays.

Wild Health always uses fresh, local ingredients in its cooking and looks to forage for produce whenever possible. Its aim is to make healthy food attractive and accessible to all, elevating healthy food so that it’s a treat and not a chore. Their delicious dried Jersey kale will have you reaching for a bag over the option of a packet of crisps.

Owner and health chef, Gemma Bartlett, said: “I’ve always wanted to become a member of Genuine Jersey as it’s such a fantastic platform through which I can reach out to local retailers. I decided my kale chips were the best product to apply with, since the kale is always bought locally and is available at most times in Jersey around the year.”

John Garton, CEO of Genuine Jersey, said: “Christmas is a busy time of year for all our members and a great time of year to showcase the local talent we have among our craftsmen and artisan producers. Both Gemmas are welcomed as a fantastic addition to our growing community. Please come along to support these local businesses at the Spirit of Christmas Markets and when you are shopping this Christmas try to buy local whenever possible.”
