I make a wide variety of handcrafted items, but recently have been focussing on kiln-fused glass, which is beautiful and very versatile. I started fusing glass in the spring of 2021 after having wanted to try it for years. I finally booked a session with Glyn Burton at Devil’s hole and was hooked (addicted).

My first kiln has just arrived after I have been designing and cutting the pieces at home, and very carefully driving 5 minutes down the road to Devil’s Hole 3 times most weekends ever since to use the kiln there. Each firing takes about a day, as it needs thorough cooling after to avoid breakages.

I use a variety of clear and coloured glass, glass powders and small pieces to layer the glass before firing. Some pieces may be fired multiple times to get the required results. I also embed wire, special foil or paper in the glass. The possibilities are endless, and with the help of the internet and YouTube videos, I am now bursting with ideas of designs and techniques to try.

I post pictures of my new pieces on Instagram and Facebook, and sell my glass at the Harbour Gallery and Trading Point. I also have an Etsy shop with a limited amount of glass listed, and my many other creations such as quirky knitted tea cosies.

I am happy to do commissions for that special gift that is personalised and each item I make is a one-off as it is difficult to get 2 pieces identical due to the nature of the process. Sometimes all I need is an idea, or picture and I run with it. Some best inspirations come this way.
