Priory Studio at the Devil’s Hole
Jo Carney is a local artist with over a decade of experience and Masters Degree in Fine Art. Currently she works from the Priory Studio at the Devil’s Hole to create bespoke glass jewellery and artworks.
The glass she uses is Museum quality, toughened in a 24hr annealing process and attached to sterling silver and gold findings (the jewellery pieces). Each piece is individually hand sculpted using graphite tools to create elegant and delicate pieces suitable for every occasion. Her inspiration is drawn largely from nature - having also had years of experience freelancing for various local florists and taking part in conservation programs at Durrell such as the Agile Frog Catch & Release Project - but most recently from her fascination with glass’ light interaction and its incredibly mesmerising colour holding and reflective properties, and how this interplays with current fashion trends.
Jo is available to teach borosilicate glass sculpting at her studio in St. Mary and to take on commissions, with over a decade of oil painting as well as glass, bronze casting and wearable art experience. She has been Artist in Residence at the prestigious Borgo Santo Pietro, created pieces for the Percentage for Art Scheme, Planning Department, Jersey and most recently exhibited in the Private & Public gallery, with upcoming wearable art works soon viewable in the Walking Gallery, 2020 (commissioned by Art House Jersey).
Her pieces can be purchased by private messaging her Instagram or Facebook pages, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, telephoning her on 07700 333076 or in store Fridays and Saturday mornings (During current C-19 restricted times).
